UGGA SUTTA - Two kinds of treasure On Saturday 10th May

29 April 2025

1030 - 1300 in the Dinham Room, Ground Floor, Exeter Community Centre, St David's Hill, EX4 3RG

Alayasri will lead us in exploring the Ugga Sutta from the Anguttara Nikaya. Here the Buddha discusses the two types of treasures - those associated with the Worldly life and those associated with the Spiritual life.

Hopefully this will allow us to have more awareness and gratitude for the treasures we already have and that can be relied upon.

‘Ugga, the royal minister, went to see the Exalted One. Upon arrival he greeted him respectfully, and sitting down beside him spoke to the exalted one in these words:
“It is wonderful, it is astonishing, how rich and wealthy, how richly endowed this Migara is, the grandson of Rohana.”
“How rich may he be, this Migara, Rohana’s grandson?” asked the Buddha.
“Ten million in gold, oh Lord, not to speak of the silver”
“Certainly it is not to be denied that this is a treasure,” said the Buddha “but this treasure is threatened by fire, water, princes, thieves and undesirable heirs. There are seven treasures which are not threatened in such a way."

What are they?…Do join us and find out!     We look forward to seeing you there.
