For the Good of Buddhism - Saturday 9th November

4 November 2024

Saturday 9th November, 10:30 - 12:30

In the spring of 1950, Ven Kashyap took Sangharakshita to Kalimpong. His parting words to the twenty-four-year-old English monk were: ‘Stay here and work for the good of Buddhism’. In obedience to his teacher, he was to remain there for fourteen years.

This Saturday we'll be hearing from Kusalaraja who has just returned from India, where he met with order members, mitras and friends in the sangha. He'll share his experiences of the wonderful work that's happening in Triratna in India under challenging conditions, inspired by the example set by Dr Ambedkar. Danaketu will also talk about Sangharakshita's years in India, particularly in Kalimpong, experiences which shaped the movement he founded and contributed to the re-establishment of Buddhism in the land of its birth.

We will be appealing for donations to the Future Dharma on the day; Future Dharma support vital Triratna work in India and all over the world. Thanks to a generous offer by a donor, every donation will be matched, so everything you give will be doubled. If you can't make it on Saturday, could you consider making a donation online to our usual account but referencing Future Dharma Fund in your payment. Thank you!

Meeting at our usual venue :  Exeter Community Centre, 17 St David's Hill, EX4 3RG
