Day Retreat Saturday 30th November

Day Retreat Saturday 30th November

Saturday 30 November 10:30am – 4:30pm

Saturday 30th November 10:30 - 16:30 -

“Kindness, in the Buddhist sense, is not a passive or sentimental quality, but an active force, a profound and far-reaching attitude of the heart.” – Sangharakshita, Living with Kindness

A nourishing day retreat where we will explore the Karaniya Metta Sutta—the Buddha’s words on loving-kindness—and consider its relevance to our practice and daily lives. Drawing inspiration from Sangharakshita’s book Living with Kindness, we’ll have study, reflection, and discussion on how cultivating metta can transform our relationships with ourselves and others.

The day will include periods of meditation, time for tea, and a shared lunch. Please bring something vegan to share.

All are welcome, whether you are new to Buddhism or a seasoned practitioner. We look forward to sharing the day with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book?

Yes please book in advance on the website; please contact us at triratnaexeter@gmai.com if you have any problems booking

Do I need to bring anything?

Please bring something vegan for a shared lunch. Hot drinks will be available.

You can bring any meditation gear that you like to use, but we also have plenty that you can borrow.

What should I wear?

Anything you feel comfortable in. Some people find loose fitting clothes help with sitting in meditation.

Do I need to be a Buddhist?

No. Our classes are open to everyone and we regularly have people who attend but don't identify as being a Buddhist

How much experience is needed?

This retreat is suitable for everyone, whether you have lots of experience or none.

How much does the retreat cost?

We run on the basis of Dana (generosity) which means we do not charge for the class. However we invite donations and as a guide you might like to give between £15-20 for a full day. You can donate by cash or card. If you cannot afford to donate, we still want to encourage you to come along

Can I just come for part of the day?

If you are going to come for one of our events, we encourage you to stay for the whole duration.
